When creating professional magazine front covers and contents pages is essential that the layout and appearance of them are primary focusses. For example, when producing them I considered the bleed lines, cut lines and the way the magazines would be stacked and arranged within a sales perspective (stacked to be sold in a shop) and the zig-zag pattern that you eyeline follows when looking at and consuming a magazine front cover. I purposely arranged the sell lines, cover lines and incentives on both sides of the image to aspire to this zig-zag pattern of focal points.

I ensured the arrangement of the copy on my magazine front covers followed a pattern hat is easily digestible to a reader and the audience of my magazine. For example, the reader’s attention is automatically drawn to the masthead of the magazine- ‘TELOS’ and then the reader’s focal point will zig-zag down the page, processing each sell line, cover line and incentive separately. I used this to my advantage: I ensured that the prominent cover lines and sell lines stood out more than the other copy which is less important. I accentuated my main cover lines regarding my three models: Hannah Gray, Jack Berwick and Blay Burgin by using a multimodal ‘exclusive’ sell line which included text and a rectangle shape from Photoshop top draw maximum attention to the three cover stars which perpetuate throughout my two front covers and contents pages.

Furthermore, I incorporated an ‘L margin’ into my four products to allow for the cut lines and bleed lines when the magazines are printed and copied and it also accentuates the professionalism of the magazines as the text is fixed and aligned accordingly.
