Editing My Images:

After the photographs are taken I will go onto Photoshop and start editing my images. My images of Rosie and Jack are high-quality, however, there are still details which need to be amended and things to be taken into account... Initially, I will crop the images to ensure they adhere to the ‘rule of thirds’ concept which entails improving the composition and balance of my images which combine to devise more engaging and better-balanced photographs. I will then use the blemish-removal tool on Photoshop to remove any unnecessary blemishes from my models’ faces to create a flawless effect. I won’t remove any freckles or natural birth marks so as to reinforce the ethos of TELOS whereby a natural motif is the basis of the magazine. Following this, I will brighten the shadows on Jack’s images. I won’t make the image of Jack too bright as I wish to include some darkness to create a grittier image which signifies masculinity. I will also alter the lighting of the shadows on Rosie’s images as I want them to be as vivid, bright and effeminate as possible. The incorporation of these two alterations serve for different reasons; truly reflecting a masculine and feminine juxtaposition which spreads throughout the two separate front covers of my magazine. With Rosie, I will increase the saturation of the yellow background and her ginger hair so as to not eclipse either assets of the images. Finally, I will sharpen the images of Jack and Rosie to ensure that whether the images appear on print or online, they are as clear as possible and equally as eye-catching; fulfilling the requirements necessary to create truly professional images which will enhance the quality of my magazine front covers.
