Why I Chose Blay:
I am choosing Blay as the model for my magazine’s contents page and website. I decided he was the right male model for TELOS as his personal style and appearance matched the house style and overall tone I was looking to create. For example, my magazine is about promoting natural beauty and candid interpretations of what is attractive and fashionable to a contemporary readership of 16-25. Blay instinctively wears attire which represents current trends and fashions and which subsequently represent his different social group (homosexuality); he was perfect for the role of my male model as he withheld the ability to wear the clothes I chose for him (which mirrored his personal style) and make them look effortlessly striking, dramatic and impressive. This within itself (the image on the contents page and other images on the website) will act as the primary incentive for readers to purchase the magazine and engage with the visual content which is further accompanied by the content which lies within the magazine.
Clothing Decisions:
I reached a decision about clothing by considering which colours create an urban, trendy and candid representation of contemporary fashion ideals. For example, Blay’s tiger top which he wears on some of the images corresponds with the setting (long, grassy field) and the oranges, reds and browns on his shirt merged to devise a unique and modish tone to communicate these current fashions and styles to TELOS’ target audience. Blay’s other outfit (pale shorts, fila jacket and white converse) represent sporty clothing which is fashionable contemporarily (this also corresponds with Hannah’s pink reebok shoes). This directly appeals to an audience of 16-25 year-olds and will entice them to purchase the magazine and reciprocate the fashion they witness within the magazine.
Props' Decisions:
I have reached a decision regarding props: I wish to create a raw and masculine representation of Blay whilst also creating a feminine representation which compliments his masculinity. I am going to provide Blay with a pair of sunglasses to accompany his outfits and ask him to deliver a variety of poses which compliment the featuring of sunglasses.
