FRONT COVER 1 JPEG.jpg

I incorporated the same fonts into my front cover of Jack as I did with Rosie: ‘blacklisted’, ‘bebas neue’ and ‘’. This means the house style perpetuates throughout the two front covers so it’s easily recognisable and a distinct masthead and institution has been created (TELOS). Similarly to my first front cover, the typography consists of sans serif and serif fonts which devises an equally formal and colloquial tone and mood which subsists throughout the magazine. The sizing of the typography is big enough to stand out but not too big that it eclipses the image of Jack and the non-linguistic interpretation the readers will derive from his gesture code. It’s interesting that the masthead is obscured by Jack’s head as the masthead is captivating and vivid enough to still be recognised and the professionalism which has been put into the creation of it suggest the magazine is high-class enough to be recognised even if the masthead is concealed. I employed three colours into my front cover: white for the masthead, black and bright blue. The bright blue allowed the informal and colloquial side of the house style to be made clear whilst the black promoted the formality of the magazine.
