FRONT COVER 1 JPEG.jpg

Whilst deciding the discourse to feature on the front cover of my magazine, as inspired by the other magazines I’ve studied and analysed, I believe it was crucial to feature lexis which links directly to the edition and season of the magazine (autumn). The cover lines “Jack Berwick and why he’s got such a lot to say” and “introducing Blay Burgin his gender neutral attire and his LGBT lifestyle” coincide to create a consensus of gender identity and homosexuality which adheres to the current issues the LGBT community currently endure and the rights they’ve achieved etcetera. This is then further anticipated by the incentive “homophobia it’s a thing of the past”. This places the magazine on a socially and politically affiliated pedestal whereby the readers will be astute and educated; henceforth benefitting from the magazine’s content. The sell line “best of both…” adds a quirky, suggestive and witty element to the magazine; appealing directly to the 16-25 year old demographic whereby they’re physically active and also immerse themselves within a thriving nightlife (at college or university, for example). This sell line offers readers simple ways to exercise and party without any problems. The teaser “fashion’s new energy” reinforces the idea that the magazine is contemporary and their featuring of new models and personalities within the magazine ensures TELOS are maintaining their ethos that the magazine remains up-to-date from the model to the content within the magazine; thus, keeping their audience utterly engaged and ensuring they’ll continue to purchase the magazine in the future.
