FRONT COVER 1 JPEG.jpg

Jack’s right hand sitting effortlessly in his right jean pocket connotes masculinity and his comfortableness with his masculinity. His relaxed left hand signifies his relaxation in the attire he’s wearing as well. The position of both his arms portrays Jack as physically active and healthy; implying that the magazine promotes the health and wellbeing of its readership and expresses that the magazine will offer tips on how to ahieve a similar this. This also corresponds with the cover line “outfits which take you from the gym to the gin” . The position of Jack’s head allows the camera to capture his raw masculinity: his jawline and bone structure are very contoured and this furthers the stark look I was aiming for. His facial expression amalgamates with the theme of homosexuality and the LGBT community to accentuate and oppose the stereotype that extremely masculine males cannot advocate for equality in regards to homosexuality; my magazine proves this is false and this appeals to the age demographic of 16-25-year-olds (who are likely to be ahead of their time and activists for change) and the fact that the magazine is a contemporary one and relates only to those ideals of 2018 and beyond appeals to this target audience widely. The colour of his attire: a black Ralph Lauren t-shirt and dark blue jeans reiterates Jack’s stark masculinity and imposing charisma (which bodes well with the cream backdrop and serves as complimentary opposites) and work together to enforce an ultimately male-orientated magazine for readers to derive inspiration from. The image of Jack has been cropped to exclude half of his legs and his feet as I believed they weren’t necessary to the content I wished to advertise on the front cover of the magazine. This also allowed for a teaser to be utilised “the best shoes to buy this autumn” which will entice the audience to buy the magazine and gain knowledge regarding these shoes.
